Sheep Shearing outing with the Kindy classes

Yesterday was the annual sheep shearing at Duryea Farm.  My big girl's kindy class hiked up from their school to attend and see where the wool comes from that they work with. What a perfect day for a shearing.

While we waited for the kids to come up from the school E and A and I walked around.

This is a the new calf

She is so cute and will make lots of yummy milk for us in the future.

The cows got loose but were round up in no time. They are very anxious to get out on grass in the morning.

Cristof, one of the dads at the school, summoned the children with his horn as they came up the hill from the school.

Here are the children arriving.

How nice the children were for the demo.

The mama ewe was first to be sheared.

Cristof started at the foot and removed the dirty wool first.

There's my girl!

The lamb needed a drink for comfort while they were shearing.

Even my 3 year old was on her best behavior with her sisters classmates.

Almost done.
