We spent another four days at the big ol house. My handy husband installed a wood furnace in the basement the first day to help suppliment the heat and use less gas. Oh and I should mention that temps were in the single digits. He did an amazing job.
Day two he finished up the guest room so his parents could come and visit comfortably. That is one room complete. Day 3 and day 4 he tried finishing up the living room. He did a lot of tweeking and perfecting the temp of the Furnace to try and find the most efficient settings.
With no tv reception and no cable or telephone I had plenty of time to think, create, and occupy the kids with lots of jobs and activities. Luckly there was plenty of space to run around and play hide and seek, because it was frigid outside. We couldn't even check the tracks and trails in the new snow. I did find their dress up box which was worth hours of fun.
You might be wondering what I did to help out. Well I am a jack of almost all the trades. The girls and I made Valentines, painted many pictures, played many games, and then there was their free play time where they didn't need me. I did find time to make meals, listen to the inaugural buzz on WNYC which we are very excited about and inspired by. Oh and very important to the pregnant lady...rice crispy treats. I had time to draw with the girls. Ant found my sewing machine and I stitched up some temporary dark curtains for the guest room to block some of the light and drafts from the four enormous windows. Also since I suffered the severe morning sickness I have not touched my wool stash. I carded and spun a nice yarn to make a scarf for a special friend. I am almost finished with it.
I would also like to add something to this post that I am sure anyone can truly enjoy
He is a 7 year old boy with great, innocent and honest beliefs. Please check the sound bite of his own words. So inspiring!
